Kanagawa is home to a concentration of manufacturing bases of automobiles and other transportation machineries, such as the Keihin coastal area, Ken-O inland area and Shonan region. The prefecture’s shipment value of industrial products is the second largest in Japan.


Additionally, Kanagawa's Gross Prefectural Product is 35.3 trillion yen (for the fiscal year 2021), which is comparable to Finland's Gross Domestic
Product. This indicates that the prefecture has a strong economic power comparable to that of an entire country.
